home

if my dad could figure out how to work my camera then perhaps i'd have some good photo's of me in florida,  haha.

i was thinking recently that my blog should probably be about me. i don't know when the last time was that i wrote down how i was feeling, or how my life was going, and that recent post about my art school worries really seemed to help me get my head back in a good place, so this might become a regular thing.
recently i've been really missing my second home of orlando, florida. it seems like such a stupid thing but i can only ever see happiness for me living there, or at least living in the uk with the prospect of always being able to go back, which i don't have right now. the wonderful thing about the world right now is that i could drive down to the airport and get a return ticket to germany or france or greece for under £100 if i wanted to, but plane tickets to florida are never going to be less than £700. that's so frustrating to me, because i'm the queen of bargain travel, and i'll stay in a youth hostel and travel by bus if i have to, but there's just no way to get around that flight cost.
i just miss it. i've never been to a place more beautiful or magical, or a place where i felt more at home. it's just perfect there. trust me to fall in love with one of the most expensive places to visit in the world.
disneyworld 2015 is a thing that could happen. if by some miraculous happening that i get into university and then accepted to the disney summer work experience programme, then i can go there. that's the most exciting thing in my life right now and it would be the most wonderful thing in the whole world, but there's two years and a lot of work between me and that goal, so i'll say no more. x

miss you, miss you

cats, hats and things | shopping in hot topic | mickey's philharmagic (childhood dreams came true in that theatre, tears were in my eyes) | cheerio's like in matilda | the queue for the festival of the lion king at animal kingdom | the best part of the best show in the whole of disney world (kind of hard to take good pictures of dancers when they're flying through the air) | disney's boardwalk | the seat area where we watched 'fantasmic!' at hollywood studios (more tears here, it was beautiful)

i miss you, orlando. maybe we'll see each other again sometime in the future?

if you're not a believer of magic then i suggest you go to disney world. when they say 'theme park magic' they are not lying. dreams really do come true there. i was never really drawn to it as a kid but now it's my favourite place in the whole world. words cannot begin to describe how much i miss it. sorry for the photo-heavy post, i was just looking back through my blog and realised i never really posted many pictures from america. thank you for reading! :-) xx

homemade butterbeer

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

i went to the wizarding world of harry potter for the first time this year. it was truly amazing, and of course, i had to try the butterbeer. to be quite honest with you: i didn't like it. it was very sweet and not at all what i expected, but since being at home, i've actually been craving butterbeer quite a lot. i was over the moon when i found this recipe for butterbeer on the bloggersphere, and, seeing as it took me a while to figure out how much half a cup was, i'm going to convert the american measurements to good ol' english ones here for you guys.

you will need:

  • 200g of brown sugar - i used demerara sugar because i couldn't find any brown sugar, which is why the butterbeer came out slightly white. brown sugar will give it more of an authentic caramel colour.
  • 4 tablespoons of butter.
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of salt.
  • 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar - i didn't even know there was such a thing haha! i found this for around 80p in asda.
  • 180ml of double cream.
  • roughly 1 litre of cream soda - you can buy 2 litre bottle's from asda for under a £1 and i used about half of one.

the first thing you'll need to do is make brown sugar syrup, which will be used in all aspects of the butterbeer. to do this, mix the brown sugar with 2 tablespoons of water in a small pan. bring to a gentle boil and then take off the heart after roughly one minute. then add the butter, salt, vinegar, and 60ml of the double cream, and stir until smooth. you'll then need to let that cool to room temperature.

once the brown sugar syrup has cooled, pour 60ml of it and 60ml of the cream soda into each glass (this recipe serves 4) and mix. then fill up each glass using the remaining cream soda.

to make the cream topping simply beat together the remaining cream (120ml) with 2 tablespoons (or whatever is left) of the brown sugar syrup, and place on top!

to be quite honest with you, it is still not my cup of tea. it tastes exactly the same as it does at wizarding world though, which made me feel like i was back there in hogsmeade, which was lovely. i'd definitely give this a try if i were you, it's very unique - it's really not something you could get anywhere else! x

blogger, you suck

okay, so i just got back from a two-week holiday to orlando, florida. i scheduled a load of posts so my blog wouldn't be dead while i was gone but blogger didn't post any of them, so... this is some kind of apology explanation. i got home literally a few hours ago and as of right now i've been awake around 27 hours. yeah, ouch. i'm working on getting pictures up and videos edited together but you'll have to bear with me for a bit, and in the mean time i'll post the stuff that was supposed to be posted while i was away.

enjoy this teaser picture while i get everything sorted, see you guys soon. xx
