the river's just a river

dress - topshop petite (available here) | leggings - h&m |  belt - primark

hello beautiful people! it's been snowing a lot in the uk recently and the daylight has been all lovely and white, so i thought it was the perfect time to take some outfit photo's. i treated myself to this stunning new dress last weekend as a treat for finishing my exams, it's actually a lot more purple than it seems on photo's, with yellow and green specks, it's beautiful! i got it in a size 6 but it's still quite baggy, so i paired it with this simple  black belt from primark that i've had for years.
these leggings are the new loves of my life. i stumbled across them in h&m on boxing day for the grand price of £5.99 and fell head over heels. they are so fabulous! they remind me of the wicked witch of the east from the wizard of oz, with her lovely striped tights and ruby slippers sticking out from under dorothy's house. i actually did buy some beautiful red glitter shoes over the christmas break, and they would look amazing with these leggings, haha!
i've been quite busy since the beginning of january, with exams, coursework, and various projects. i finished my first stop-motion of 2013 on saturday and am currently working on the second, so a post on those will be up soon! but other than that, i really don't have much else to report to you guys, so i will keep this short and sweet! thank you so much for visiting! xx

a mental mind-fuck can be nice!

rocky horror t-shirt - urban outfitters | shorts - river island via asos + diy | tights - m&s

last night i went to see the rocky horror picture show at my local cinema, as they put it on as a special showing because of halloween. rocky horror is one of my favourite things in the whole world, and since i can't go to the rocky horror show when it comes to my local theatre next year, i decided this was the next best thing.

the shorts are from a half-arsed columbia costume. i sewed the ribbons on to make a columbia costume just as a halloween costume, but it took me way longer than i thought it would. then i ran out of ribbons to do the back of the shorts, and lost the sequins to decorate the top, so i only ended up with the shorts. i didn't know what top to pair it with so i went for the appropriate choice. i was wearing that t-shirt when i bought my wand at the wizarding world of harry potter, and the wand-seller told me he loved it.

the film was great, as it always is. there were only about 30 people in the cinema as most people probably used their orange wednesday's to go see skyfall. it was kind of awkward to watch it in a cinema situation though; i wanted to dance and sing but it was kind of inappropriate. it just made me want to see the theatre show a lot more, which sucks, because i can't afford the tickets and i don't have anyone to go with.

other than that, though, it was awesome! it was definitely a new experience seeing the film in a cinema. i love that they still show the film, as it gives me a chance to get to do one of the many things that i missed out on by not being born in time, haha. and if you haven't seen the film, or the show, then i highly recommend it. THANKS FOR READING! xx

west yorkshire playhouse costume dept.

on tuesday, me and all the a-level textiles girls went on a trip to the costume department of our local theatre to try on costumes as research for our textiles project. it's amazing in there! they pretty much let you just walk in and try on some costumes, i loved it!

my project is based on the book / musical 'wicked' so i was looking for big ball gowns, victorian-style clothes, big elaborate dresses, and obviously, any wizard of oz things that i could get my hands on. there was actually a huge wizard of section in the back which i got really excited about.

so this is just going to be quite a picture-heavy post about the costume department and the outfits i tried on :-) hope you guys enjoy!

so the first thing i tried on was a wedding dress! i wandered around for maybe 20 minutes being a bit disheartened because i couldn't find anything that i thought would fit me, and i didn't want to put something on that swamped me and then feel shit about myself. the first 'small' thing i found was this wedding dress so i had to try it on but i ended up getting stuck in it and spending 10 minutes wrestling my way out haha, oops...

the most beautiful dress ever! i was so in love with this thing! i've actually written a whole post on it because i loved it that much, which'll be up soon. :-)

second favourite dress of the day! it was a tim-burton style ball gown. it was fully-boned and really heavy, and the train drove me mad haha, it was hell trying to walk around in that thing! i felt like helena bonham carter in sweeney todd in this. :-)

munchkinlander shoes! i was so in love with them but they were really battered and two sizes too big :-(

ruby slipper tap shoes! sparkly red tap shoes have actually been on my shopping list for years and years, since i saw 'wizard of oz' at the playhouse when i was about 12, so i was really excited to see these :-)

my friend tyla trying on this INSANE showgirl costume that the costume dept. guys called the "feathers" haha.

munchkinland heaven!

what to wear at disney world

yeah, it's pretty much safe to say that this little moodboard is the female version - BUT for boys, it is pretty much exactly the same, except with longer shorts and male-character disney head-wear. :-)

this is all i ever saw teenagers wearing when i was at disney world. i felt out of place in my primark pumps and frilly socks haha. i mostly made this for myself because i always seem to be over/under-dressed at places like this, so this'll remind me. this is an easy, simple way to dress there, basically. you want to be able to walk around all day (hence the comfy shoes) but also not look like you're going on a hike or something.

disney ears or hats, you can get pretty much anywhere at any disney theme park gift shop. to get the badges, you can go to guest services (check your park maps!) and you can say you're celebrating a day out, or it's your first visit, or your birthday, anniversary, etc. and they'll give you a badge. people like to make a fuss of those who wear badges, just so you know haha! xx
