warm fuzzy winter wishlist

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

owl kigu - purchase here | kicker's kick hi booties in red - purchase here | gipsy speckled ribbed tights - purchase here | adventure time box set - is this real?! does it exist?! i need it! | topshop cat burglar jumper - purchase here

sometime last year, i joined the onesie hype the second it appeared. i had had a onesie when i was about 11 or 12 and missed it, so i got one of the first styles that primark brought out, which was an ugly black/yellow bumblebee thing. i've been on the hunt for a more stylish one since then, and recently i found kigu, which is an amazing company that sells all kinds of fun and cute onesies! i think the owl one is my favourite but i'm also quite partial to the giraffe and the kangaroo (and the corgi... and the flying squirrel.. okay i love them all!). kigu's are slightly pricier than your average primark onesie but you're paying for better quality, better designs, and you're helping a company that is much more kind and lovely than primark. i'm too broke to purchase one right now but this is going straight on my christmas list!

i have also fallen madly in love with adventure time. i watch it with my sister every day when she gets home from school and i get home from sixth form (it makes me miss the days where i'd run home for lizzie mcguire and that's so raven!). i can't get enough of it, it's SO GOOD. i don't know if the boxset is a 'real thing' for us in the UK but if it is then i'm getting my hands on it as soon as possible.

because i look so young, if i try to dress 'grown-up' i just look like a little girl playing dress-up in her mum's wardrobe, so i like to play up my toddler look. that is why i love these kicker's - they look like something a gorgeous little child would wear, but they come in my size! since my trusty old primark brogue's have bit the dust (much like these old favourites) i have been in need of some good, sturdy shoes, and i think these are the ones.

and, of course, what could winter be without a jumper and some woolly tights? these are my current favourites. the tights, i am madly in love with, but i feel that the jumper is a bit pricey (although gorgeous) so i think h&m will have to be my saviour here. xx

split me open, with devotion

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

beautiful flower embellished wedges - purchase here | 'das schicksal ist ein mieser verrater' by john green - purchase here | everything oz: the wizard book of makes & bakes by hannah read-baldrey & christine leech - purchase here | revlon lip butter in 'tutti frutti' - purchase here | cute rabbit night light - purchase here | 'some nights' by fun. - purchase here | beautiful embroidered dress from oasap - purchase here

oasap might just be my new favourite place to shop! i stumbled across their website recently and they stock some of the most beautiful things i have ever seen! that dress is heavenly, and reminds me of when i visited germany in 2009. it's quite expensive at $99 or roughly £60 but it would go with absolutely everything. those gorgeous flower-detail shoes are also from oasap, and i am madly in love with them! as lily from redbricklipstick says, they remind me of marc jacob's daisy and i hope i can get my hands on a pair very soon.

we all know what a huge success 'we are young' was so i was interested to see how fun. were going to follow it up, and they did not disappoint! 'some nights' came out recently and i've been listening to it on repeat ever since. lots of people on youtube have been saying that it reminds them of something queen would do? i can't hear it personally but maybe that's why i love it so much haha! i want to get my hands on the whole album and see what other amazing songs they have for me.

'das schicksal ist ein mieser verrater' is the german translation of the new york times bestseller 'the fault in our stars' (mentioned here). i got a C in german at gcse and i've nearly forgotten everything i learnt so i'm hoping to teach myself some more by reading german books, and this is the first on my list. i've also got my eye on 'eine wie alaska'.

i saw the rabbit night light in a post on louise's blog and knew i had to have it! it's a bargain at just under £5, especially as i've seen places charge more than triple for something almost identical. 'everything oz' was mentioned in october's company magazine (i LOVE the new company - so much better than your average boring fashion magazine! *cough* vogue *cough*) and this kinda thing is right up my street. i love all things oz so that'll definitely be on its way to my postbox very soon. last but not least, the revlon lip butter is just something i need. i'm not the kind of girl who can wear a statement lipstick everyday so something sheer is ideal for me, and, since i love orange lips, this looks perfect! x

the smallest haul ever

sorry for the really blurry phone photo. you're not supposed to take photo's in city varieties but i figured i could risk one teeny tiny blackberry photo to post on twitter. i absolutely loved that night, seeing a guy that i've loved for five years be hilarious and lovely in person was perfect. :-)

i bought this bag from the merch stand on my way out. it says 'simon amstell numb' on the back and i love it. i always think these cotton totes are a weird shape - too square for a4 folders - but i bought it anyway. it was £8. they had signed dvd's but i already had a copy of his first tour so i didn't buy one.

i tried really hard to find other stuff that i bought to put in a haul but this is it. i just haven't been buying anything. when i got back from america, they announced the queen gigs and i was flat broke, so i've been trying to save up £100 to put in an envelope and save for emergencies, like needing to see brian and roger play live sometime in the future. maybe i'll never shop again, i haven't missed it. xx

kurt geiger

a while ago, you may have seen a post in which i mentioned recieving a £20 kurt geiger gift card in an elle goodie bag i bought at the clothes show. yesterday, i finally decided to put that gift card to good use.

i had initially tried to spend my gift card a week or so before christmas but it wasn't being recognized as valid and i got a bit pissed off about being given a faulty card. took me a good few days to realise i needed to activate it!

so yesterday, whilst browsing through the kurt geiger website, i spotted two things i liked; these beautiful red-brown brogues, reduced to £19, and these quirky leather gloves, but in grey, reduced to £18. i settled on the brogues, but during checkout i realised they had a minimum charge of £4 for postage&packaging (during the christmas holidays, they had free postage on offer, so i totally didn't see this coming). i was pretty upset that i couldn't get them, as it would go over my gift card allowance by £3 and i wasn't willing to spend any more than was free. so i went for these things...

although i was annoyed about paying £4 for p&p, it was worth it, because my goodies arrived the this morning! i wasn't expected them to get here until at least friday.

my first purchase was these gold studded hair grips. they were reduced to £2, and, if i'm honest, i only bought them because they were so cheap and they fitted nicely into my gift card allowance with my next item and the p&p. i was purely trying to get my money's worth out of the gift card. i'm not a big fan of fancy hair things and i probably won't get much use out of these, because my love for plain black hair grips is too strong. they are pretty though and i shall love them forever!

my next purchase was this pretty wine-coloured glass triangle ring. this was £50, reduced to £13. they had a clear glass one on offer as well, but i thought the wine was much more my style and would go nicely with my hair colour (although why i was thinking it would be near my hair a lot is beyond me...). i was a bit worried that it wouldn't fit as my fingers are really thin, but the S/M size was perfect and it fits so well.

the ring looks an opaque dark purple in most pictures, and this picture shows the actual colour.

overall i'm really happy with what i got (although i'm still mourning over those red-brown brogues!) and i'm glad i got the elle goodie bag while i could. i probably would have never looked at kurt geiger's stuff if i hadn't have gotten the gift card. there's a really good sale going on at the moment on the kurt geiger website and i suggest you all have a look, because there are some real bargains on there. x

clothes show live

on wednesday (7th of december), me, lauren and the rest of the girls (all girls this year, usually we have the odd boy that gets dragged along by his girl mates, ahem, liam) that do gcse / alevel textiles at my school went to clothes show live at the birmingham nec. it's always a good day out, even if the 2.5 hour coach trip there and back makes you feel ill, but this year it was especially good. we had our economic heads on and i managed to spend only £50 (a record for me) and come away with much more than i've ever done before.

me and lauren on the coach there. can you believe that this was the most sane picture we took?

other than the amazing shopping opportunities, part of the clothes show live experience is going to see a half-hour fashion / dance show before we leave. this is the third year i've been and george lamb has hosted this show every time, but this year we had a second host in the shape of 'britain & ireland's next top model' judge, grace woodward.

those who watched this years series of the x factor will be familiar with the barlow-manufactured boyband 'the risk'. they made a little guest appearance to sing a song that i didn't know.

who doesn't love a large group of attractive men in their underwear? we couldn't complain.

'britain & ireland's next top model' winner jade was one of the models for this years show. lauren absolutely adores her and i made it my mission to get a good photo of her. for most of the show i was holding my camera in position, constantly focusing and re-focusing, going "is she coming up yet? is that her? that's her, right? in the gold jacket? i'm gonna get her this time!"

a rather attractive male model ending the show with a little runway dance, accompanied by jade from b&intm and kimberley wyatt, former pussycat doll and now a member of 'her majesty and the wolves', who also performed.

i filmed a lot of the live show in between taking pictures and the footage is now up on youtube. x

p.s. a clothes show haul will be up in the next few days. :) x
